Non-resident Fee Exceptions
Approved 8/16/21; Reviewed 8/15/22; Amended 8/21/23
A person who is not a resident or real property taxpayer of the library district may receive a library card without paying the non-resident fee when at least one of the following conditions are met:
-
The person is a student who attends a public or private school with a physical location within the library’s taxing district.
-
The person is a teacher who teaches at a school located at least in part within the library’s taxing district.
The above applies to students and teachers of Delphi Consolidated School Corporation or a private school, grades preK-12, with a physical location within the library’s taxing district of Deer Creek, Jefferson, Adams, and Rock Creek townships. In order to ensure access for students, private schools must first contact the library to confirm the address of the school.
In order to receive a student card, parents must prove current enrollment of their child in the above-mentioned schools. Enrollment may be verified with a school ID, report card, or verification on school letterhead. Teachers may present a school ID or verification on school letterhead.
Student cards expire a year from issuance but may be renewed the following year with proper proof of enrollment.
